Lithology and Thickness

Upper part, attributed to the Lower Devonian, consists of massive, bedded, often siliceous, gray and dark gray limestones. Thickness 250m.

Lower part, attributed to the Upper Silurian, consists of clayey medium- and thick-bedded limestones with flint nodules and interlayers (60-70 cm) of carbonate breccia. Thickness 155m.

Upper part – Contains corals - Pachyfavosites kozlowskii minima Chekh., Cladopora sp. ind., Trachypora sp. ind.; brachiopods - Lanceomyomina targa Barr., Spirigerina supramarginalis Khalf. and others.

Lower part – In the limestones, brachiopods - Gypidula inciliens (Barr.), Lissatrypa columbella (Barr.), Spinatrypa dzwinogradensisKozl., Eoreticularia tschernyschewi (Nal.), Alascospira carens Barr.; tabulates - Favosites ex gr. humilis Sok., Squameofavosites ispharensis Chech. and others; conodonts - Ozarkodina cf. confluensis (Bran. et Mehl.); graptolites - Monograptus ex gr. transgrediens Perner.

Age

R.R. Usmanov and others (1999) distinguish the Auziken Fm only in the span of Ludlow-Pragian of the Upper Silurian; the deposits of the upper part of the Fm, corresponding to the Lower Devonian, are attributed by them to the Kulandzhaylau Fm.
